Acclaimed opera star, pianist take stage in Hanoi tomorrow

World-renowned American mezzo soprano Jennifer Larmore and partner – French pianist Antoine Palloc will welcome back the 11th Hennessy Concert Series in Hanoi Friday evening.

On their very first performance in Vietnam, the two will feature pieces by Mozart, Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti, among others at the Hanoi Opera House.

Viewers outside the opera house can take in the performance on a 500inch-large screen outside the Hanoi Hilton in the city’s Cach Mang Thang Tam Square.

Originally from Atlanta, Jennifer Larmore is an outstanding mezzo-soprano who has parlayed operatic success in Europe into international stardom since her French debut as "Sesto" in Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito in 1986.

Known for excelling in the coloratura roles of the baroque and bel canto, her name can be found on major recording labels of over 70 CDs to date, which has earned her the distinction of being the most recorded mezzo-soprano of all time.

She has appeared in every major opera city in the world, including Milan, New York, Paris, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Buenos Aires, Chicago, Vienna and more.

She has also been featured in numerous publications, everything from Vogue, The Opera News, the English Opera, the French Opera International to the magazine Dog Fancy, with her miniature schnauzer Sophie.

Larmore has also appeared on a variety of television programs around the world including Good Morning America, Breakfast With the Arts, the Classical Arts Showcase and the German show Klassich.

In 2002, Dr. Larmore (conferred by Westminster College of Princeton) was knighted by the French government with the title Chevalier de l’ordre des arts et des lettres in recognition of her contribution to the world of music.

With her long-time collaborator Antoine Palloc, she has made several International recital tours to Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid, Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, Vienna, London, San Juan, Prague, Melbourne, Brussels, Berlin, Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, Sao Paolo, Athens and Copenhagen, as well as all the major American venues.

Antoine Palloc teaches and performs at the Paris-based Opera Bastille’s Opera Studio, Japanese Nagaoka Lyric Studio and the Monte Carlo National Opera Orchestra, among others.
