“Charming Vietnam” welcomes London audiences tonight

o Wednesday, March 5, 2008

The 20th “Charming Vietnam” gala will kick off tonight at London’s Westminster Central Hall after two months of preparations.

More than 100 performers including singers, composers, models and dancers traveled to the UK on different flights.

Tiredness from the long journey and the different temperatures, however, did not prevent them from joining in rehearsals in readiness for the extravaganza.

Overseas Vietnamese and many other British people are eager to enjoy the show.

Londoners often schedule their work and entertainment activities several months before.

Many people made exceptions, however, for “Charming Vietnam” by promising to come to the performance despite only receiving tickets two weeks ago.

The Vietnamese Embassy in the UK said most of the guests responded warmly to the invitation, some even wanting to buy tickets for relatives.

Everybody in the “Charming Vietnam” delegation, including organizers, performers and volunteers living in the UK have tried their utmost to contribute toward the special show.

“Charming Vietnam”, Thanh Nien’s charity gala, is a highlight of the “Vietnamese Culture Days in the UK” event from March 4 to 15 which coincides with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s first-ever official visit to the country.
